New Great Wall Concept to Show at Beijing Auto ShowSeptember 25, 2020
The Chinese company Great Wall will bring an unusual novelty to the Beijing Auto Show – a four-door concept car dubbed the Futurist. Despite the name, the car is made in retro style.
Official renders and sketches show a sedan with protective linings around the body, multi-spoke rims and stern. The car is richly decorated with chrome, is devoid of middle window pillars, and narrow fog lights are installed on the protruding front bumper trim.
There are also modern technological solutions – “recessed” door handles and miniature cameras that play the role of rear-view mirrors. The retro references continue in the cabin, which looks more futuristic with multiple screens for the multimedia system, dashboard and external cameras. There is also a backlight and a compartment for charging gadgets.
According to the Dutch AutoWeek, the concept car is based on the new modular Lemon platform, which will form the basis of future Great Wall and Haval models. It differs from previous “bogies” by reduced weight, increased rigidity and versatility – Lemon can be easily adapted to almost all types of power plants, including hydrogen ones.
The Beijing Auto Show, which will debut the Futurist, will be held from September 26 to October 5, 2020 at the China International Exhibition Center. The motor show will also feature a General pickup truck from the Chinese brand Foton, the Radiance electric show car from BAIC, equipped with a fourth-level autopilot, an angular Honda electric hatchback and other new items.
