New Genesis GV70 captured during testsFebruary 11, 2020
The Genesis GV70 showed off its taillights.
It seems that the Genesis GV70, located between Tucson and Santa Fe and under the GV80, is in the final stages of development since we got the first spy shots of the rear lights, which are no longer preliminary. Another hint is that these taillights are very similar to what we saw on the facelift that is about to arrive in the G70 (remember that the GV70 is based on the G70 platform).
We learned about the family of three SUVs thanks to a photo that was sent out during the New Year’s announcement by the vice president of Hyundai Motors Group. He said: “Genesis will accelerate foreign expansion into China and Europe and will actively expand its lineup, including the first SUV model released this year to enhance the influence of the global brand.”
While the GV80 is focused on the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Audi Q7, and the GV70 will follow the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
The engine range will be used in conjunction with the GV80, so it will install a new family of gas engines Theta III (2.5-liter T-GDi with a power of 304 hp) and Lambda III (3.5-liter T-GDi with a capacity of 380 hp). and possibly Smartstream Diesel 3.0-liter V6. All of these engines will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Returning to the photograph shown at the HMG event, the shape of the hood, roof and side mirrors, as well as the body size, vary on three SUVs. The hood of the model on the left end emphasizes smoothness, while the model on the right end has a clear bend and string.
This can be interpreted as the result of Genesis’s “Sporty Elegance” design philosophy. “If the G80 has a 50:50 ratio of elegance to dynamics, then the G70 has 70% dynamics and 30% elegance,” – said Lee Sang-Yop. who is responsible for the Genesis style. Therefore, we expect the Genesis GV70 to follow what we saw on the G70, and it will have more sporting proportions.
Since Genesis plans to introduce the GV80 by the end of this year (finally introduced in January 2020) and then the GV70 (will appear in the third quarter of 2020), another model on the left, like the Genesis, cannot be ruled out. Flagship SUV, the so-called “GV90”
