New generation Toyota Corolla sedan unveiled

The model received a new look and engine.

Toyota has introduced a new generation Corolla sedan for the American market. The novelty moved to the TNGA platform, received a new appearance, a two-liter engine from the Dynamic Force family and a Dynamic-Shift CVT variator with a “starting gear”.

Compared with the previous generation sedan, the new Corolla has become wider. The length of the overhangs changed: the front one was made shorter, and the rear one, on the contrary, stretched a bit. Slightly decreased the height of the machine. For the first time, 18-inch wheels are offered for the model, although in the initial version the sedan is completed with steel forgings of 16-inch sizes.

The architecture of the cabin of the new Toyota Corolla is made in the style of “sensual minimalism.” In the center of the front panel is a multimedia system display, which, depending on the version, can be seven or eight inches. Dashboard – a combination of analog speedometer and tachometer display on-board computer (4.2 or 7 inches). The seats can be trimmed with a fabric or SofTex material.

The Corolla is equipped with a new, more compact and efficient climate control system, which prevents the glass from misting up. The multimedia sedan system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, equipped with Amazon Alexa voice assist, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB ports and voice recognition.

The range of new engines consists of a 1.8-liter engine, as in the previous generation of machines, and a new 2.0 Dynamic Force unit with a combined injection and electric water pump. Its return is 171 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. Both engines can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT Direct Shift CVT.

The new Toyota Corolla sedan is equipped with Safety Sense 2.0 safety complex, which includes a frontal collision avoidance system, adaptive cruise control, a lane retention system, automatic high beam control and reading of road signs.

Sales of the new generation sedan in the US will begin next spring.
