Premiere restyled family held in Brussels

At the Motor Show in Brussels debuted updated family Ford Mondeo, which first appeared wagon with a hybrid power plant. Also, the model acquired an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of a six-speed and a modernized range of diesel engines.

In terms of design, the changes are minimal, but now one version from the other can be easily distinguished by the grille. For example, horizontal chrome strips will be on the cars in the Titanium version, design in black color will be on the sports versions of the ST-Line, and silver ticks on the grid, resembling the letter “V”, on the most expensive and luxurious cars Vignale.

In addition, Mondeo received upgraded bumpers with other sections of fog lights, as well as new lights, which are now connected by a chrome strip.

The interior materials have improved, new decorative inserts and a transmission selector washer have appeared instead of the usual lever. It is installed on machines with eight-speed automatic transmission.

Such a gearbox is offered for cars with 150- and 190-horsepower 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engines. It adapts to the driving style and road conditions, “realizing” when the car is going uphill, downhill, or is actively turning.

Also for these engines is available all-wheel drive system, but only paired with a six-dpped manual transmission.

Other powertrain options are the 120-hp two-liter diesel and the 165-hp 1.6 EcoBoost gasoline engine.

The composition of the hybrid power plant includes a 187-hp two-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine, an electric motor, a 1.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery and an automatic gearbox that simulates the smooth operation of the variator.

The average fuel consumption of the hybrid is 4.2 liters for the sedan and 4.4 liters for the station wagon.

The Mondeo equipment includes an adaptive cruise control with automatic stopping and starting, a traffic sign recognition system, a SYNC 3 multimedia complex with an eight-inch screen.

In the European market, the updated family will appear in March. The company expects that about 50 percent of sales will be hybrids.
