New Ford F-150 Raptor will not receive leaf spring suspension for the first timeAugust 9, 2020
Photospys were able to examine in detail the pre-production concept of the new Ford F-150 Raptor.
In the third generation, the pickup for the first time, instead of a suspension on leaf springs, will receive a design with coil springs. Judging by the photo published on Sunday, August 9, due to the change, it will be possible to win in geometric cross-country ability.
Ford hid the chassis design changes with covers and a metal face shield. But the editorial office of the Ford Authority got a photo of the concept from a close distance, which shows that there are no leaf springs, the configuration of the exhaust system and the location of the shock absorbers have changed.
Since the 14th generation Ford F-150 still has leaf spring rear suspension, the special Raptor variant will be more different from simple pickups than before. It is worth noting the appearance of additional rear axle mounts, the exhaust tract, in turn, is located higher in comparison with its predecessor, so the exit angle may increase.
It is assumed that the new Raptor will get sports shock absorbers Fox Racing and a petrol 3.5-liter “turbo six” EcoBoost, along with which will function a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. Engine power will increase, according to insiders, with no specific figures provided at this time.
The premiere of the “charged” Ford F-150 Raptor will take place not earlier than in a year.
