New Corvette can get electric doors!December 28, 2018
The American concern General Motors is the author of the new patent application – this time it concerns the doors that will open and close at the touch of a button. Yes, yes, they will be electric.
In fact, this “door” functionality has long been no longer unusual – premium brands have already implemented this technological solution in their models for a long time. However, there are two things that make this patent interesting.
Electric doors will be able to automatically adjust the force with which they will open or close depending on the strength of the wind or gravity when parking on slopes of different heights.
And for the umpteenth time, the patent application does not say anything about the Chevrolet Corvette as such, but the car that is shown in it is very similar to the Chevrolet Corvette. It is reported that the application was filed with the US Patent Office in June 2017. However, it was published only today. Judging by these images, it becomes clear that the “independent” doors become such due to the presence of the rotary actuator, the position sensor of the door itself and the controller. It is noteworthy that the door will be able to determine for itself whether there is any obstacle in its path.
It is possible that the current version of the Chevrolet Corvette, depicted in this patent is used just like that. And the electric doors are not designed for the new generation coupe (index C8).
