New Chinese brand Hengchi introduced six electric cars at onceAugust 3, 2020
Chinese giant Evergrande Group has set up two new companies, all of which will manufacture, market and service electric vehicles. The cars themselves will be released under the new premium Hengchi brand.
Already next year, the first electric cars will appear under the new Hengchi brand (translated as “perpetual speed”). On Monday, August 3, a presentation of six models took place at once: three crossovers, two sedans and a minivan were declassified for the public.
Each of the announced new products receives an ordinal index by analogy with Hengchi 1, Hengchi 2, etc. It is curious that the Dane Anders Warming, former MINI chief designer, worked on the appearance of electric cars numbered 1, 2 and 4.
There is little information about new products. The same Hengchi 1 applies to the D-class sedans. Sedan Hengchi 2 joined the B segment and acquired the characteristics of compact and sporty. But the electric car, known as the number 3, is a mid-size crossover.
Number 4 went to a seven-seater minivan, and electric cars 5 and 6 are class A miniature SUVs. In general, the Evergrande Group seeks to occupy a dominant position in the NEV (New Energy Vehicle) market. Recall that this abbreviation refers to transport with new energy sources. The company is going to release 14 car new products in all key market segments.
Production plans are known: at first the company is going to produce 100 thousand cars annually, then this figure will grow to a million. In 10 – 15 years, production capacity will reach 5 million cars.
The Chinese are planning to sell their models in various regional markets. We will be able to get acquainted with the serial version of the Hengchi 1 sedan this year. The novelty may debut in September in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen is developing an affordable compact electric car. Environmentally friendly citycar will be known under the index ID.1. This is a five-door hatchback, which in the future can serve as the basis for a mini-family: on its basis the ID.1 Crozz crossover and e-Roomzz van can be built.
