New Chevy Corvette C8 is delayed due to “serious electrical problems”?December 13, 2018
Now we know why the long-awaited American novelty will not be presented at the Detroit Auto Show (USA) next month. Tentatively, the long-awaited presentation is postponed for 6 months.
Earlier this week, we learned about the plans of the American brand Chevy regarding the brand’s performance at the upcoming auto show in Detroit (January 2019). The company has not scheduled any debuts for NAIAS, which means that the premiere of the new generation of the sports coupe is being postponed again.
The next generation Corvette has a “serious problem with electricity”, because the car’s electrical system cannot cope with the necessary load of all its components.
A couple of minutes ago, our foreign publications learned some very interesting details about why Chevy is not going to show its new products in Detroit. It is reported that engineers working on a mid-engined Corvette C8 stumbled upon a problem that caused the brand’s management to postpone the car’s debut.
Now, engineers have to completely redo this system, and this in turn will affect the work with suppliers, since other electrical components will be needed for everything to work as it should.
According to an insider, solving this problem will result in a 6-month delay. Nevertheless, the launch of the mid-engine Corvette is planned for 2020. Note that the Chevy guys could still present the Chevy Corvette C8 at the Detroit Automobile Show, at least as a prototype. But apparently this approach is not to the company’s management. Well, we can only wait.
