New car sales in the world decreased by 7% in JulyAugust 29, 2020
Global sales of new cars continue to recover, and China remains the locomotive.
Experts of the analytical agency shared data on sales of new cars in the world for July 2020. In total, dealers around the world were able to sell 6 million 680 thousand new passenger cars and auto segment LCV. China is the leader in sales with the result of 2.035 million copies. The Chinese car market continues to grow and in July showed an increase of 13.2%. These dynamics are linked to concerns about a second wave of coronavirus, which is forcing buyers to close deals as soon as possible.
The second place is taken by the US car market with the result of 1 million 238 thousand units, which is 11.2% less than in July 2019. In the countries of Western Europe, a total of 1 million 269 thousand new cars were sold (-5.7%). The countries of Eastern Europe showed good dynamics – dealers managed to sell 382.5 thousand new cars. The dynamics of sales turned out to be even better than in China – plus 17.6%, while Turkey had the best indicators.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the South American car market has fallen sharply – “minus” 31.5%.
Among the large countries, we note Japan with the result of 390.5 thousand units. and a decrease in demand by 13.9%, Canada with an indicator of 163.9 thousand units. and a fall in the market by 5.5%, as well as South Korea, sales of cars in the territory of which continue to grow and reached a value of 160 thousand units.
In the interim results of the year, the situation is far from being so optimistic – in the period from early January to the end of July, 39 million 401 thousand new cars were sold worldwide, which is 24.6% less than last year’s result for the same period.
