BMW has announced the main characteristics of the i4 electric sedan, which will premiere in 2021. The novelty will receive a unit that in its performance will be comparable to the current B8 Bavarian brand V8 engine.
We are talking about an electric motor with a capacity of 390 kW, which is equivalent to 530 horsepower. The eight-cylinder 4.4-liter gasoline unit with two turbines, which are installed on the flagship BMW models, including the 7-Series sedan and X7 crossover, has the same return.
The BMW i4 will be able to accelerate from standstill to the first hundred in less than four seconds, and its maximum speed will exceed 200 km per hour. A set of 80 kWh batteries will allow you to drive up to 600 kilometers without recharging. At the same time, using a special quick system, it will be possible to replenish the battery supply by 80% in 35 minutes.
It is expected that the electric car will receive an autonomous third-level control system. Such technology assumes that the machine will be able to maneuver, rebuild and even overtake passing vehicles on its own. In this case, the driver must be ready at any time to take control.
As previously reported, BMW will release 25 completely new “green” models by 2025, 12 of which will have all-electric power plants.
