New BMW 4-Series gets huge nostrils and 21-inch wheelsSeptember 10, 2019
BMW brought a new 4-Series coupe to the Frankfurt Motor Show. This is a prototype, but the Germans promised that the production version will be 85% similar to the concept. For example, the model will have giant nostrils made in the style of the “seven” and X7. In addition, the concept was shod in 21-inch wheels – earlier on the “fours” did not offer wheels of this dimension.
All the technical stuffing of the 4-Series went from the new “three” in the back of the G20 – the models have the same platform in the serial version. Most likely, the cars will have identical engines and gearboxes.
In the basic version, the coupe will be equipped with a two-liter supercharged gasoline engine under the B48 index. The motor, depending on the boost, produces 184 or 252 horsepower. Transmission – an eight-speed “automatic” ZF in all versions. The novelty will be available in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions.
The new BMW 4-Series will go into the series no earlier than mid-2020. The product version will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in early March next year.
BMW is now selling the Quartet, which debuted in 2013. The car is built on the same platform with the previous 3 Series F30. Moreover, the family of “fours” includes not only a coupe, but also a convertible and liftback.
