New BMW 2 Series Active Tourer spotted at Nurburgring
May 14, 2020BMW takes the next step in the development of the new 2 Series Active Tourer and sends its MPV to the famous racing track.
After lengthy winter trials, the first prototypes of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer go to the Nurburgring. Although this is not his natural habitat for this automotive segment, the new BMW offspring seems to have a good time on the track. Unfortunately, the Bavarians have so far decided not to rid the camouflage of the new product, and the MPV is still “wrapped from head to toe” in black and white film.
However, the disguise does not hide the fact that the 2 Series Active Tourer will be very similar to the new BMW 1 Series. According to the publication autoweek.nl, the grille promises to get a similar shape, and the taillights also have a familiar shape. It is noteworthy that the rear window wiper now protrudes from under the spoiler, and an additional side window has appeared in the front doors.
Like its predecessor, which went on sale in 2014, the new 2 Series Active Tourer becomes front-wheel drive. The car is expected by the end of this or by the beginning of 2021. It is not clear whether the more spacious Gran Tourer will return to the market. Of course, it is commendable that BMW continues its MPV story. Many brands say goodbye to this segment and change it to SUVs.
