New Acura NSX gets the traditional Long Beach Blue colorNovember 13, 2020
For the 2021 model year, the “charged” Acura will receive a new paint option, inspired by historical tradition.
The new shade option for the 2021 Acura NSX takes a modern take on the iconic Long Beach Blue color that was used in the original NSX and brings together two other heritage-inspired colors, Berlina Black and Indy Yellow Pearl, that were added in 2020. Choosing this option will cost US $ 1,000.
Long Beach Blue is one of the rarest colors you’ll see on the original NSX, as only 88 cars were painted this shade. The modern version has a slightly different formula, resulting in a brighter shade. In a statement released Wednesday, Acura said it has decided to revive the color to celebrate its sponsorship of the IndyCar Grand Prix in Long Beach.
There have been no changes in the technical part of the NSX. It’s still a hybrid setup, combining a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with three electric motors for a total of 573 horsepower. A 9-speed dual-clutch transmission works in conjunction with the unit. Since the battery in the car only has 1.3 kilowatt-hours, there is no electric mode.
NSX 2021 is available to order now, with deliveries starting in early 2021. Its price is 159,495 dollars.
