New 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup spotted outdoors in IndianaMay 4, 2021
For the first time, a production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck has been spotted in the open US since its inception. Hyundai’s compact pickup truck has already been featured on the web. Its deliveries will begin no earlier than the summer of 2021.
Originally introduced as a concept back in 2015, the Santa Cruz made a lot of noise with its combination of good looks and compact size. It is noticeably smaller than most other pickups.
One of the car enthusiasts photographed a car in Indiana. It’s safe to assume that this is part of an initial production batch, with the Santa Cruz being built alongside Santa Fe and Tucson at HMMA’s Montgomery plant.
The pickup will get a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine under the hood, promising more than 190 hp. The flagship model gets turbocharging support, increasing power to 275bhp.
All variants come standard with Hyundai HTRAC all-wheel drive. Power is transmitted through a naturally aspirated 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5-liter turbocharger is mated to a dual-clutch box with paddle shifters.
The Santa Cruz, pictured outdoors, is the 2.5-liter turbocharged version in its final production form. The exact pricing and details of the package have yet to be announced, although it is already known that this car is finished in a rather attractive shade of blue: Blue Stone.
