New 2018 Jeep Cherokee SUV revealed ahead of Detroit debutDecember 19, 2017
Jeep® is introducing the 2019 Jeep Cherokee – the most capable mid-size sport-utility vehicle (SUV) boasts a new, authentic and more premium design, along with even more fuel-efficient powertrain options.
The car will make its debut at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Jeep has released the first official images of the new 2018 Cherokee – an updated version of its Volkswagen Tiguan rival, which will be revealed and detailed in full at the Detroit Motor Show in mid-January.
Changes around the back are evident too – the number plate housing has been moved to the tailgate, as a fresh, chunkier looking rear bumper with a larger scuff plate now sits in its place. Refreshed taillights with new lighting signatures appear as well. Inside, things remain unchanged based on this preview.
Jeep introduced the current KL-generation Cherokee in 2013 as a 2014 model with a far more crossover-like form than the rugged versions that preceded it under the same nameplate.
We’ll have to wait to hear about any technology upgrades and subtle changes in the cabin when the car is completely revealed in Detroit, as Jeep has provided little information alongside the images. Though this new model will make use of the same FCA C-evo platform, Jeep promises that it’ll be available with new, more fuel-efficient powertrain options.
The manufacturer revealed an earlier round of updates for 2018 just a few months ago. It promises more information and photos upon the 2019 model’s reveal in Detroit on January 16, so watch this space.
