Nearly 500 people lost their rights after a Oktoberfest for a drunken ride on electric scootersOctober 8, 2019
At the same time, much less drunk drivers were caught driving cars.
During the main beer festival of the world, Oktoberfest, police detained nearly 500 people for driving drums on electric scooters.
This year’s festival, which lasted 16 days, was attended by a total of 6.3 million beer fans from around the world. And 414 of them were arrested by police for driving electric scooters while intoxicated.
In Germany, in the summer, electric scooters were equated with vehicles, and according to the law, authorities treat them accordingly, but owners still perceive them more as toys than as an equivalent replacement for a car. As a result, out of 414 arrested “drivers” of scooters, police deprived 254 of the driver’s driver’s license.
At the same time, according to Deutsche Welle reporters, among ordinary motorists, violators were also found, but there were much fewer of them. So, the police arrested 360 people who got drunk while driving, and 215 of them also lost their licenses.
The fight against the owners of electric scooters is conducted not only in Europe.
