Named the safest cars in 2019 according to Euro NCAPFebruary 16, 2019
On the results of the last crash-test, held by the organization, told CarBuyer. The best models were chosen at once in several main categories.
Specialists of the European independent organization Euro NCAP listed the safest cars of 2019. Thus, according to the results of tests conducted among compact cars, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Nissan Leaf and the new Ford Focus were recognized as the best. So, the German model has received the maximum five stars for 96% safety of adult passengers in the event of an accident.
Such a high result is the merit of a rather impressive arsenal of a number of electronic assistants — systems for recognizing driver fatigue, emergency braking, lane control, and much more.
The new Ford Focus received its highest score for an improved set of active safety systems, and the Nissan Leaf model helped lead the way to the modern security system ProPilot Assist (a partial analogue of the autopilot).
Among family sedans and station wagons, Volvo V60, Audi A6, Mazda and Lexus ES are leaders. In the case of Volvo experts, a versatile Euro NCAP was impressed by the automatic avoidance of a head-on collision – this function leads the car away from the obstacle. But the developers of Lexus ES took care of the safety of not only the driver and his passengers, but also pedestrians (90% at once). By the way, this model has become the best in one more nomination – “Hybrids and Electric Cars”.
The BMW X5, Volkswagen Touareg, Jaguar I-Pace and Hyundai Nexo electrocrossovers win the championship among crossovers.
