Named the reasons for the hype around Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi XpanderDecember 4, 2019
Currently, compact crossovers and roomy family minivans are gaining popularity. Toyota and Mitsubishi are familiar with this trend: brands have launched universal models on the market that combine the most advantageous qualities of the most popular cars.
Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi Xpander are very popular among motorists in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Buyers appreciate their versatility: in these models, the comfort and spaciousness of a family car are organically combined with off-road qualities and a bright crossover appearance. The reasons for the frenzied popularity of such machines were told by the Autonetmagz publication.
Among the main advantages of cross-vans were named the three-row interior layout, high ground clearance, off-road attributes in the exterior, a rich set of options, as well as more budget prices than full-fledged crossovers.
Recall Toyota Rush created on the basis of the best-selling Toyota Avanza. This car received a seven-seater saloon and rear-wheel drive. Its dimensions also changed: the car became 440 mm longer (4 435 mm), and also increased its wheelbase to 2 685 mm (+105 mm). But the height and width have not changed – 1,705 and 1,695 mm, respectively.
Mitsubishi Xpander from the very beginning was conceived as a cross-train. Its dimensions are comparable to Toyota Rush: length – 4,475 mm, width – 1,750 mm, height – 1,700 mm, distance between axles – 2,775 mm. Under the hood, Rush hides a 1.5-liter aspirated engine with a capacity of 105 hp, and the Xpander is equipped with a 120-strong aspirated engine of the same volume. Both engines are combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or a four-stage “automatic”. About all-wheel drive is not even a surcharge.
In terms of options, Rush and Xpander are not much different from each other. They rely on ABS, brake force distribution and directional stability. Of the comfort options there are air conditioning, modern multimedia with a touchscreen, parking sensors, etc.
