The World Best Selling Car rating in 2019 was still under the leading indicator of Toyota Corolla, which is very close to the milestone of 50 million sales since the release of the first units in 1966. In second place is the Ford F-Series, the best pickup ever sold, while in third place is the SUV, Toyota RAV4.
Born in 1966 to dominate the world, Toyota Corolla is close to reaching a record of 50 million units sold in the world, with the twelfth generation recently (2018) released in more than 150 countries, with three body styles and a powerful engine, with, probably the best hybrid engine ever made for standard cars.
Corolla is the only vehicle actually produced on all five continents. In fact, production facilities are located in Brazil (Indayatuba, Sao Paulo), Canada (Cambridge, Ontario), China (Tianjin), India (Bangalore), Pakistan (Karachi), South Africa (Durban), USA (Blue Springs, Mississippi ) ), Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey and Venezuela.
We have been tracking global car sales since 2010, and we always had Toyota Corolla on top of the list with a global share between 1.3% (2017 and 2018) and 1.5%. In 2019, the share was 1.4%.
Of course, the podium of this rating includes only cars that have made the history of the industry. This is the second, best-selling pickup truck in history, the Ford F-Series, the leader in North America since 45 years old and the second best in the world since 2016. Place confirmed in 2019 with a safe gap over all other competitors.
In third place is the first SUV, released in the world 21 years ago, which is in the best position ever. Toyota RAV4 takes third place since 2018, rising to 14 places since 2010.
