Named the finalists of the competition for the title of best cars in Europe

Only one electric car hit the short list of seven nominees for the award.

The organizers of the European competition “Car of the Year” published a list of nominees for the award in 2019. It includes seven models, which 60 jury members selected from 38 applicants. The winner of the competition will be announced on March 4, 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show.

The competition organizers have the following requirements for nominated cars: it must be a new model, available at least five European countries at the time of voting. The jury selects the finalists by simple voting. In 2019, Alpine A110, Citroen C5 Aircross, Ford Focus, Jaguar I-Pace, Kia Ceed, Mercedes-Benz A-class and Peugeot 508 are competing for the title of the best car in Europe.[IP]&ua=[UA]&domain=[DOMAIN]&page=[PAGE]&secure=[SECURE]&language=[BROWSER_LANGUAGE]&bidfloor=[BIDFLOOR]&gdpr_consent=[GDPR_CONSENT]

Among the candidates for entry into the list of finalists and the award were Aston Martin Vantage, Audi Q8, BMW 3-series, BMW X5, Honda CR-V, Lamborghini Urus, Mercedes-Benz G-class, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Seat Tarraco, Volkswagen Touareg and Volvo V60.

This year, the best car in Europe recognized the Volvo XC40. And the Swedish brand received this award for the first time. In 2017, it became the Peugeot 3008. In 2016 and 2015 – the Opel Astra and Volkswagen Passat, respectively.
