Named the debut date of the new Volkswagen NivusMay 26, 2020
The German company has decided on the debut date of the new budget Nivus crossover, which is designed for Latin America.
Recall that for the first time they started talking about the model in August 2019. Then it was reported that the Brazilian division of the brand is responsible for the development of a new crossover from Volkswagen. It is there that they will establish the production of the model. The SUV appeared under the factory name New Urban Coupe.
It is known that the new Volkswagen Nivus is created on the modular platform MQB A0, which lies at the heart of the VW Polo hatchback, Virtus sedan and T-Cross SUV. At the same time, the wheelbase is similar to Polo and amounts to 2,560 mm. And Volkswagen said that Nivus provided some “new technologies”. It is assumed that we are talking about a multimedia complex, fully developed in Brazil.
It is expected that in the engine compartment there will be a non-alternative 1.0 TSI unit from Polo. Nivus is supposedly offered with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, and the drive will be non-alternative front.
Volkswagen Nivus will be launched in May 2020 on the conveyor located in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, in May 2020; today Polo and Virtus are being assembled at the same plant. A starting price tag of 75,000 – 80,000 reais is predicted for the merchant cross. That is, Nivus will occupy a niche between the Polo hatch (from 53 590 reais) and the T-Cross crossover (from 84 990 reais. Nivus will premiere on May 28.
