Seat has begun the final tests of the new generation Leon. Spy photos from tests were published by Autocar. According to them, the premiere of the car will be held in March next year at the Geneva Motor Show. At the motor show, the public will show a prototype of the future car. The serial version of the car will debut next summer. The main rival will be the new Ford Focus.
The novelty will be built on the MQB platform from Volkswagen. It is expected that due to this the machine will become noticeably larger than its predecessor. It is expected that Seat will abandon the use of diesel engines on the next-generation Leon. At the same time, customers will be offered a hybrid car modification. The structure of the power plant will include a 1.5-liter TSI engine and an electric motor. Later, the novelty will receive a sports modification and Cupra.
As described in the company, the new Leon will receive an advanced information and entertainment system, which debuts for the first time on models of the Spanish brand. Its development has been carried out for two years.
Earlier it was reported about the plans of Seat by 2020 to introduce six new models to the market. One of them has already become a new flagship crossover called Tarraco. Which was presented at the motor show in Paris. The car is built on the modular chassis of the Volkswagen concern called MQB A. This architecture already underlies, for example, the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
In 2019, the Spaniards will appear fully electric car, built on the architecture of the MEB concern VW. According to preliminary data, the novelty will be able to travel without recharging the batteries up to 500 kilometers.
