Mysterious Kia electric car spotted at the NurburgringNovember 20, 2020
Not every car driving through the Nürburgring wants to cut lap times by seconds or set a new track record. The 20-kilometer track is a testing ground for many car manufacturers. And since the car shown here is Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle, a lot of testing is required.
We still don’t have a name for this edgy, sleek electric car. From the images posted online, it looks like it’s a cross between the 2019 Kia Imagine and Futuron concepts and the upcoming Kia Sportage, which we also saw in spy photos. The SUV will receive a significant update by 2022, and if you look at this electric car in profile, you can see a lot of similarities with the Sportage.
However, the lines are sharper here and this roof looks lower. There’s definitely a coupe-crossover theme, and it’s possible this heavy camouflage front and rear obscures the lights and design touches from the aforementioned concepts.
We will remind, earlier experts of speedme.ru already reported that Kia is developing a crossover under the codename CV, and this will be the first electric car of the company. It is based on Hyundai Electric-Global’s modular platform (abbreviated as E-GMP) and is rumored to have a range of around 500 km with fast charging in 20 minutes.
Judging by the presence of heavy camouflage, the debut should not be expected in the near future. However, we still hope that the electric new car will be shown to us as early as 2021 as a 2022 model year car.
