Musk announced that he would sell all property for a city on MarsJanuary 11, 2021
SpaceX founder and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is the richest man in the world, decided to sell all of his property in order to have as much capital as possible to fund a future colony on Mars.
According to the American billionaire, people should know how serious he is to colonize the Red Planet. Business Insider writes about it.
“I’m also just trying to make it clear that I’m serious about this. And it’s not about personal consumption. Because people will attack me and say, ‘Oh, he has all this property.’ Okay, now I don’t have it anymore.” Musk said.
Last May, he announced that he planned to sell “almost all” of his property and that he “would not have a home.” Since then, the entrepreneur has sold several homes from his real estate portfolio that were once worth more than $ 100 million.
Also in 2020, the entrepreneur sold several high-value properties, including three neighboring houses in the Bel Air area of Los Angeles and an estate previously owned by actor Gene Wilder. For this he received a total of more than $ 62 million.
It is noted that Musk has ambitious plans on how to spend his fortune, which is approximately $ 188 billion.
“In fact, I will have practically no property that has any monetary value other than company shares. When things get tense at work, I like to just sleep in a factory or office. And I obviously need a place if my kids are there. I’ll just rent a house or something like that, “he explained in one of his interviews.
As AutoTimesNews reported, Elon Musk became the richest man in the world. He overtook Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. It happened at the auction, when the value of his company’s shares rose 5.38% to $ 796.38.
