The participation of two outstanding riders, Toby Price and Paulo Gonçalves, was threatened. Both were injured and risk not recovering by the deadline.

Honda rider Paulo Gonçalves fell from a motorcycle during the passage of the Cross-country Championship in Portugal. The leadership of the team did not make any statements about the nature of his injuries, but the athlete himself said in social networks that he would try to come to Peru.

One of the Portuguese publications wrote that the accident was so serious that Gonçalves needed an operation during which he removed his spleen. True or not, it is still difficult to judge.

A member of the KTM team and the champion of Dakar 2016, Toby Price, injured his wrist during a fall from a motorcycle in training. In this case, it is known for certain that on Wednesday in Barcelona the racer had an operation, and today, on December 13, he went to his native Australia to recover.

The team released a message that Toby would still be present at the rally marathon. Before him, we note, less than a month is left – the start is scheduled for January 7.
