Ford has confirmed that the total bookings for the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck have exceeded 100,000. This result was achieved approximately three weeks after the start of accepting orders for the new product.

The American brand reports that more than 100,000 people have already ordered the electric car, three weeks after the start of applications for the electric Ford F-150 Lightning. A fully refundable deposit of $ 100 is required for booking. This explains why Ford is now considering a smaller electric pickup. Such a novelty will probably be built on the basis of a completely new compact Maverick truck. Buyers want electric pickups – not all of course, but this is such a large market segment as pickups that demand is probably overwhelming.

Here is the exact figure for the booking frequency of the Ford F-150 Lightning:

20,000 copies of the pickup were recorded on May 20, after 12 hours from the date of receipt of applications;
44,500 reservations – 48 hours in advance (May 21);
70,000 bookings – approximately 8 days in advance (May 27);
100,000 bookings in approximately three weeks (June 9th)

Initially, Ford presented a generic version of the Ford F-150 Lightning without all the technical details and pricing data.

We assume the additional demand was driven by the commercial version of the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro announced on May 24th.

The commercial version of the electric pickup starts at $ 39,974 (MSRP) with a standard range battery, while an extended range battery increases the price by $ 10,000 to $ 49,974. The retail version also starts at $ 39,974, but we don’t know the price of the extended range battery version.

Based on initial sales results for the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric crossover and the large number of reservations for the Ford F-150 Lightning, we assume that Ford’s strategy to electrify its top models is correct. The Ford E-Transit cargo van is likely to sell well as well.
