Modern roadster in retro Morgan Plus Six will get a motor from BMWMarch 5, 2019
It is planned to produce no more than 300 units per year. Despite the previous design, the model completely changed the platform and now boasts a 335-horsepower six-cylinder engine.
Despite the fact that the Morgan Plus Six presented as a model of the new generation is almost the same as its predecessor in interior and exterior design, it has become completely new inside. Now the modern model in retro style boasts a completely new aluminum platform CX-Generation, which is twice as hard as the previous Morgan architecture. Interestingly, parts of the platform are made of natural wood.
Under the hood, Plus Six is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine from BMW. In fact, this is the same (B58) engine, which is installed on the new Toyota Supra. In this version, it develops 335 horsepower 500 newton meters of torque. The unit works with an eight-speed automatic transmission ZF, and the manual transmission is only in the plans so far.
The light weight (only 1,075 kg) and the powerful motor from the Bavarian concern make the model very dynamic, capable of accelerating to “hundred” in just 4.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 267 km / h. Like the real retro car, the new Morgan Plus Six is deprived of multimedia with a large display.
