Model Audi TT is removed from production, and her name is passed to an electric carJune 22, 2019
The decision to leave the name “TT” is due to the desire to preserve the many fans of the brand.
This position was voiced by Bram Shot, who occupies the post of head of the company. At the annual meeting of shareholders, the CEO announced that the Audi TT, which had been produced since 1998, will be replaced by another sports car. The release of the new model is also associated with a drop in demand for Audi in the PRC: sales in the first quarter decreased by 3.6% to 447,247 units of equipment.
The new car will be based on a fundamentally different platform and will receive an electric motor. At the same time, the price of the novelty is quite comparable with the cost of the current “TT”.
Details about the technical characteristics, interior features yet. According to information from AutoExpress, a small sports car may in the future turn into a practical coupe with four doors. As experts assume, the MEB platform, on which some Volkswagen cars are based, can be partially used as a platform for an electric car. The novelty will conquer the world market no earlier than 2020.
However, gasoline models are still a success. Recently, an updated version of the Audi R8 sports car was introduced.
