Mitsubishi Xpander has become a donor for the new model NissanFebruary 11, 2019
Spy photos from the Nissan van tests based on the Mitsubishi model appeared on the Web. The official premiere of the novelty is likely to take place soon.
Pictures of the new compact van were made in Indonesia, they were published by the local edition of AutonetMagz. Belonging to the Nissan brand is issued by a branded V-shaped grille, but the fact that the Mitsubishi Xpander was taken as the basis for the novelty is no doubt – the Mitsubishi van is difficult to confuse with another model. Indonesian media believe that Nissan will position this car as the next generation Livina.
Compact Livina released since 2006, it was developed by Nissan, together with the Chinese firm Dongfeng, the closest relative of the model – the old Nissan Note. China became the first market for a van, then it appeared in other Asian countries. In addition, for some time Livina was sold in Brazil and South Africa. The actual compact van in Indonesia is presented in the seven-seater version, such a car has the prefix Grand. However, the new model, according to preliminary data, will have a three-row salon, but it will cease to be Grand.
Judging by the photo, from the donor Mitsubishi Xpander, the next generation Nissan Livina compact van differs not only in the grille, but also in bumpers, plus the narrow LED lights have changed the “stuffing”. The taillights retained the shape of the original Xpander, but they have a different pattern. Inside, there will surely be a different decor.
The engine is expected to switch from the Mitsubishi model – this is a gasoline engine 1.5 MIVEC with 105 hp, it works in tandem with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Drive and Xpander, and the new Nissan Livina, only the front.
The current Grand Livina (length – 4485 mm, wheelbase – 2600 mm) in Indonesia can be bought with a 109-horsepower 1.5 engine (factory index HR15DE), which is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Van Nissan also presented only in front drive version.
New Livina will be presented in the near future, perhaps already this month. Indonesian buyers will be offered a local assembly model, but it is not known where it will be manufactured at the Mitsubishi plant, where the Xpander is manufactured today, or at the Nissan own enterprise (the current Grand Livina is assembled there).
Recall, Mitsubishi Xpander (length – 4475 mm, the distance between the axes – 2775 mm) made its debut in Indonesia in 2017. At the end of the 2018, the compact van not just became the best-selling model of the brand in this country, but also ranked second in the overall bestseller list of the Indonesian market: 75,075 Xpander cars were transferred to customers. Toyota Avanza keeps the first line so far – more than 82,000 of these cars were sold last year. Well, the current Nissan Grand Livina is lagging behind – only 2437 buyers stopped the choice on this van.
After the new Nissan starts in Indonesia, it will certainly appear in other Asian markets.
