Mitsubishi will release two new electric carsNovember 2, 2020
The Japanese company Mitsubishi is about to launch two new electric vehicles.
In the coming years, the automaker’s green lineup will be joined by three hybrids, as well as two electric cars. It is known that the company is going to complete the development of its new electric car in the next fiscal year, which ends in Japan in March 2022.
So far, nothing is known about this new product, except that it will be developed in China together with the Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). The second electric novelty will be a small electric car. In its creation, the company is going to help a partner in the alliance, namely the automaker Nissan.
In addition, there is already information that the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, which is the company’s first “green” model and the first all-electric production car in the world, will be phased out by the end of this fiscal year due to low demand.
Note that since it entered the market in 2009, the automaker has managed to sell only 32,000 copies of the electric car. In terms of Mitsubishi’s new hybrid models, the first will be the Eclipse Cross, which underwent an update last month. The crossover, which was first equipped with a gasoline-electric power plant, will be on sale in the Japanese market before the end of this year.
Also, the hybrid version will receive the “senior” Outlander of the new generation, which will be technically unified with the Nissan X-Trail, and the third hybrid will be the Xpander minivan, which is offered in the markets of Southeast Asia. In 10 years, the Japanese company is going to increase the share of sales of electrified models from the current 75 to 50%.
