Mitsubishi Delica new generation caught during tests in EuropeAugust 2, 2018
The official premiere of the sixth generation model may take place this year.
The current Delica D: 5 is produced since 2007. It was expected that the precursor of the new generation minivan will be presented in 2017, but this did not happen. Now foreign media believe that the premiere of the sixth generation model will take place this year, and immediately in a serial form. It is also possible that Delica can get to the European market, Mitsubishi is testing a new vein on European roads. However, it is possible that the company simply tests MPV in different climatic conditions – in the test sample the steering wheel is on the right side. Recall that now the minivan is sold in Japan and in some other countries of Asia with left-hand traffic.
The appearance of the new Deliky will be performed in the style of the cross-country Mitsubishi Xpander, which debuted in 2017 in Indonesia. According to preliminary data, Delica next generation, like the current model, will be based on the same platform as the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV. It is assumed that from the front-wheel drive versions in Mitsubishi will refuse: the minivan will be offered with the all-wheel drive S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) with a multi-disk clutch in the rear wheel drive and electronically controlled locking the front differential.
According to Japanese profile media, the new Delica will be available on the home market with only one engine – the current turbodiesel 2.3, whose power will increase from 148 to about 170 hp. For the current generation model, gasoline atmospherics 2.0 (150 hp) and 2.4 (170 hp), working with the variator, are also provided. The diesel of the current minivan is combined with a six-speed automatic transmission.
In Japan, the price of Mitsubishi Delica fifth generation starts from the mark of 2 408 400 yen. The new minivan will certainly be more expensive.
