MINI showed the details of the first production electric carJuly 13, 2018
The company MINI has published sketches of the first fully electric model, which will debut next year. They show a decorative element, replacing the grille, and the wheel. The design of parts almost exactly repeats what was demonstrated on the prototype MINI Electric Concept in 2017.
The radiator grille of the electric MINI will be made in a proprietary hexagonal style. However, it will be closed: to improve the aerodynamic characteristics and there is no need to cool the power plant. Asymmetric design of the wheel is entirely transferred from the concept of MINI Electric.
The harbinger of the serial electric car of the British brand was presented in Frankfurt. The car received special suspension settings and 19-inch wheels. At the same time some elements of the body of the concept car were made using 3D-printing.
According to preliminary information, the model will debut in 2019, 60 years after the launch in the series of the original MINI. The assembly of the electric car will be adjusted at the production site of the BMW Group in Cowley, UK. Power plants will be assembled at the Dingolfing and Landshut plants in Bavaria.
