Mini Cars Designed By Paul SmithNovember 18, 2020
After years of hiatus, the BMW Group brand announces a collaboration with the designer Paul Smith, behind the famous Paul Smith brand.
MINI and Paul Smith are two British brands with strong traditions that are constantly evolving, striving to improve the future with their products, and striving to responsibly and maximize the use of available resources. In a new stage of cooperation, brands will enter into a creative dialogue in order to develop design solutions together, with a focus on sustainability.
The concept of sustainability was embedded in the concept of the very first Mini, born in the midst of the oil crisis – the idea of a family car offered maximum space and driving pleasure with minimum use of materials and resources. The classic MINI proved that you can do more with less before anyone even talked about sustainability. Economy was an important aspect of the time and has therefore become an integral part of the MINI worldview since the early days of the brand.
Sir Paul Smith is one of the most prominent British designers. He is known for his creative aesthetics that blend tradition and modernity. In 1999, Smith was involved in the creation of a limited special edition of the classic Mini. Then the car was painted in a blue shade created by Sir Paul, which was ideally combined with the anthracite-colored light alloy wheels. No less (if not more) popular was the classic Mini made in a single copy, which was decorated with multi-colored lines in the corporate style of the Paul Smith brand for the 40th anniversary of the car.
