MG is preparing its new MG Hector crossover for the Indian car market. The developers have borrowed the name for the car from ancient Greek mythology. Hector – one of the main characters of the Trojan War. It is known that under this sonorous name there is a converted Chinese model Baojun 530, which is also the new Chevrolet Captiva. From this car, the novelty should have been different original appearance and interior.
However, as seen on the “fresh” spy photos taken during the filming of the new product, the MG Hector will differ from the “donor” only with a new grille, silver moldings on the doors and other nameplates.
Interestingly, the popular British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who became famous for his role as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC TV series, was invited to advertise the novelty.
According to preliminary data, the MG Hector will be equipped with a 150-horsepower 1.5-liter gas turboprop, combined with a manual transmission, a CVT or a “robot”. Also, the novelty is punched diesel Multijet II with a capacity of 140 or 170 “horses.” The drive is expected to have no alternative front. In India, Hector will appear in the middle of this year. There is no talk about expanding the geography of sales.
