Miataland: the best hotel in the world for Mazda MX-5 fansJuly 10, 2019
It is located in Italy and boasts the largest private collection of roadsters.
Since 2017, a hotel has been operating in Italy, which will definitely appeal to all fans of the Japanese car industry. Its owner, Andrea Mancini, devoted his whole life to collecting Miata, and two years ago decided to open a hotel in which everything is imbued with the spirit of the legendary roadster. According to Mancini himself, he managed to collect the largest private collection in the world.
The hotel is built on the basis of an old stone house of the XVII century. The numbers in it differ in color – each room is named after one of the factory colors that Mazda used to paint the MX-5 bodies. So, guests can live in the rooms of Mariner Blue, Sunburst Yellow, Soul Red and Crystal White. The rooms are decorated with Miataland motifs – the rooms are decorated with bas-reliefs in the shape of Miata, and the keys to the rooms look like keys to a car.
But the most interesting is on the hotel: there is a collection of Mancini from more than 40 Mazda cars. Of course, the collection has all four generations of the MX-5, including rare modifications: the BBR Turbo NA turbo, the Miracle Edition NB special version with a six-speed short box and leather interior and the Open Race racing NC.
But the most valuable items of the collection are even more unique – for example, a modification of RS Limited, which was released in 1994 with a circulation of 500 cars under the Eunos sub-brand, designed only for the Japanese market. In the collection there is another model released under the auspices of this brand: Eunos V Special Type II 1993 release.
In addition, in his collection there are three cars from the brand, which no longer exists. We are talking about the company M2, another sub-brand Mazda, under whose leadership niche cars were developed on the basis of already existing models. In the collection, Mancini has one of the 300 M2 1001 roadsters, the luxurious M2 1002 and the sporty M2 1028 with a lightweight body and a boosted engine.
Mancini allows guests to ride on some roadsters to explore the nearby lakes and wineries, but he does not give anyone the M2 models. He cares about these three cars so much that when the Mazda’s German office sent a film crew and professional racer to him to do a small test drive of one of the M2s, Mancini said he would rather cut off his hand than let the rare roadster .
