MG will present two new cars in BeijingSeptember 1, 2020
They will be a crossover and a sedan. It is noteworthy that outwardly they will receive many innovations, which may mark a new brand style.
MG Motor has prepared a number of important new products for the Beijing Auto Show, which opens at the end of September. The presentation of the new crossover and sedan is scheduled for September 26. At the moment, the brand’s model lineup consists of 3 cars – 2 compact SUVs and one station wagon. Given current trends, expansion is a must. The name of the new crossover is still kept secret. MG has already pleased us with a teaser for the new car – it is noteworthy that we do not see a lot of elements inherent in concept cars. Therefore, a pre-production sample must arrive at the exhibition.
A special place is occupied by the design of the taillights – you can see the design in the form of the British flag, borrowed from the MINI. With this, the brand hints at its English roots. The new cross should be based on the SSA platform. The Chinese media suggest that the car’s engine range will consist of two turbo engines – the base will be a 1.5-liter 173-horsepower engine, and the more powerful 2.0-liter engine will be able to produce 231 hp.
The engines will operate with 6-speed manual transmission or with robotic gearboxes in 6 or 7 steps, depending on the selected configuration. All-wheel drive will receive only the top-end Trophy equipment.
The second novelty that MG will bring to Beijing will be the MG-5 sedan. This is the second attempt by the car to enter the market – the first time it lasted from 2012 to 2017.
There are a few more details about this car – its dimensions will be 4675x1842x1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2 680 mm. The base should be a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 120 hp, and in more advanced trim levels, you can count on a turbo engine with a return of 173 hp.
Meanwhile, two updated Audi models have reached the Russian market. We are talking about the Audi A4 and A5 Sportback in Edition One trim levels. The greatest changes were received by the A4 family car.
