Mercedes will equip S-Class with a huge displayFebruary 14, 2019
Inside the prototype, they noticed a touchscreen display that exceeds the size of a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It will display the multimedia system information. The screen is set to tablet orientation.
Under the display there are several physical controls that are responsible for setting the driving modes, volume, etc. The rest of the functions will be displayed. The digital dashboard, apparently, will be wider than the current version of the Mercedes S-Class. The rest of the cabin was closed from prying eyes.
The prototype received serial headlights and taillights. However, tight camouflage distorts their shape. The new S-Class will be released next year. It will be available with semi-autonomous driving technology of level 3, while Tesla Autopilot and Cadillac Super Cruise are still level 2 systems.
The Mercedes S-Class is expected to be available exclusively in hybrid versions. The engine range will include a 3.0-liter and 2.9-liter inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Plug-in versions will be able to travel up to 160 km in fully electric mode.
The S-Class debuts a new 4Matic all-wheel drive system with fully variable torque distributed between the axles, as well as an active suspension that will work together with a 48-volt system and a camera scanning the road in front of the Mercedes S-Class.
