Mercedes tests new Mercedes-Benz with minimal camouflageJune 27, 2020
The official presentation of the premium German sedan should be held in September this year.
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been under development since 2015, and we still have not seen it. However, this should change in September this year, when the German automaker will finally remove the veil of secrecy from its new products. In the meantime, we have to be content with spy shots of the model. the other day on the WalkoARTvidoes channel on YouTube there was another video with a sedan with a little less disguise than before, but Mercedes still carefully conceals the front of the model.
Last month, leaked images of a car with a small amount of camouflage film, which allowed us to evaluate the restyled exterior and a completely new model interior. Later in May, the first teaser appeared, showing the front of the model, which resembles the “face” of the current Mercedes-Benz S-Class with an updated headlight design that is present on the new CLS and E-Class.
We know that the S-Class will make a “technological revolution,” as Daimler CEO Ola Callenius said. It should be equipped with the latest safety features and technologies, which will make the model one of the best luxury sedans. Mercedes says the S-Class will be released with a tier 3 semi-autonomous driving system and a tier 4 system will come later. It will compete with Tesla Autopilot and Cadillac SuperCruise systems.
The powerful V12 will remain, and several soft hybrid systems based on six- and eight-cylinder engines will also appear. Mercedes will also offer the S-Class with four-cylinder powertrains in some markets that tax larger and less efficient engines, such as in China. The German automaker will offer the S-Class in three wheelbases: standard and extended, and Maybach will be an extra-long variation.
The novelty will go into production at the new Factory 56 factory. Here the company will produce models of the “highest and luxurious class” in the future. We expect more teasers, leaks and spy shots that will reveal to us the novelty before its official debut.
