Mercedes recalls 149 coupe AMG GTMay 6, 2020
It is noteworthy that the recall will affect new cars in 2020. The reason was found out after special studies.
The sports division of Mercedes-AMG announced the launch of a recall campaign for 149 GT cars of 2020. This became known on Wednesday, May 6. The reason was a possible malfunction in the car’s electronics. This is an emergency call system called eCall. The fact is that during wiring, there may be no ground line for the wiring harness, which in turn can lead to inaccurate transmission of the location of the car.
Such a malfunction can not directly affect the accident rate or the health of the driver and passengers, however, in some cases, the correct operation of the emergency warning system is extremely necessary.
Mercedes representatives learned about the problem during contacts with a supplier who conducted their own research. It turned out that the error arose not during production, but during development and testing.
The leadership of the German company noted that the problem was quickly diagnosed, so the response will not be so massive. Already installed all the cars on which it is necessary to eliminate the malfunction. All work will be carried out free of charge at Mercedes service centers. The launch of the recall campaign is scheduled for June 20, 2020.
