Mercedes plans to introduce a hybrid version of the updated SL

The German brand is working on an updated version of the sports model SL. It is known that the novelty will receive several executions, and in particular the plug-in hybrid 73e. The total power of such a power plant can be 800 horsepower.

The new Mercedes SL-Class is coming soon. In 2019, we saw a rather heavily modified E-class sedan, which was actually a test mule for a new generation of sports model. In January of this year, we first met with the new roadster in a real body – see photo. We still do not know much about the next generation SL, but some “leak” of information can shed light on the entire model range of the legendary sports family. ,

Six different SL versions are reported, starting with version 43 and ending with SL 73e 4MATIC +. Presumably, the “e” index indicates that it will be a plug-in hybrid version of the model with an engine power of 800 hp.

It is said that the electric motor will work with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine, and if you think this is too much for the new SL, you are not the only one. If the rumors are true, then such power will make the SL more powerful than the current AMG GT. We also expect entry-level versions of SL 43, SL 53, SL 55 S and SL 63. It is reported that the new product will receive a 2 + 2 interior layout.

It is also worth noting that the head of Mercedes-AMG, Tobias Moers, said that the new SL will be much more sporty than the current model.
