The company Mercedes-Benz has introduced a fully electric city bus called eCitaro. This is reported by the press service of the concern Daimler.
The novelty has divided the chassis with the standard Citaro diesel bus, but at the same time it differs from its platform donor in a modified front part of the body, an enlarged brand logo and another roof.
Mercedes-Benz is equipped with electro-portal bridges ZF AVE 130 with power units in wheels. In total, the engines produce 340 hp and 970 Nm of torque, available immediately after the start.
The lithium-ion battery pack is divided into ten modules that are located at the rear of the bus body, and also in its roof. The total battery capacity is 243 kilowatt-hours. Mercedes-Benz eCitaro is able to take on board about 85-90 passengers.
The public premiere of the Mercedes-Benz electric bus will take place at an exhibition of commercial vehicles in Hanover, and its batch production will begin before the end of this year. At the moment, the German company has already received an order for the delivery of 20 buses, which will go on the route in Hamburg.
