Mercedes cars will be equipped with a touch wheelMay 7, 2020
The first upgrade will be the Mercedes-Benz E-Class family.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will acquire an advanced steering wheel with touch technology. On cars of current generation, you can find neat ledges on the right and left knitting needles that respond to horizontal and vertical movements. With their help, you can coordinate the work of multimedia. The new steering wheel will bring this function to a higher level due to additional touch switches on the spokes, as well as a special touch rim. The latter allows you to control the presence of the driver’s hands on the steering wheel of the car thanks to the method of capacitive sensing.
The new steering wheel, interacting with the semi-automatic control function, guarantees the driver additional support on the road.
Also, the upgraded steering wheel will receive a slider for adjusting the volume, a whole set of single-function touch buttons and a four-way controller. Several options have been prepared for the new steering wheel: this is the base one under the name Sport, Luxury, characterized by a rounded body, and Supersport with a raised rim. The dimensions of the steering wheel depend on the chosen design – from 14.6 to 15 inches.
