Mercedes-Benz will become a supplier of VenturiOctober 5, 2019
In the sixth season of Formula E, starting November 22 in Saudi Arabia, the partner at Venturi Racing will be Mercedes-Benz EQ, a division of the Stuttgart-based concern that manufactures electric cars.
Previously, the team from Monaco independently developed and manufactured power plants for their cars, but now Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains will supply it with cooling systems, rear subframes, rear suspension, shock absorbers, software, on-board electronics systems, as well as electric motors and transmissions.
The factory team of the Stuttgart concern will play in the championship in electric car racing using the same technology, because the chassis of all Formula E participants use the same ones – Spark SRT05e. Consequently, she will have at her disposal information on the work of four machines, and this is very important for their effective refinement.
Ian James, Head of Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team: “We are pleased to welcome Venturi Racing to the Mercedes family before the start of the Formula E season.
In recent years, Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains has accumulated a huge amount of knowledge in the field of creating highly efficient electric motors, which will be useful not only to our team, but also to Venturi Racing. Working with four cars during our debut season will accelerate the movement towards our ultimate goal – the struggle for victory. ”
Susie Wolff, Venturi Racing Team Leader: “For our team, this is an important step forward; Given my long-standing relationship with Mercedes-Benz, I am confident that we will have a strong cooperation. In the previous season, we made good progress, but our plans for the sixth season are even more ambitious, and we are doing everything in our power to become as competitive as possible. ”
Andy Cowell, Managing Director of Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains: “The experience gained over the previous decade, we now apply in Formula E, for us this is a new challenge. Working together with Venturi we can speed up the process of obtaining information. Moreover, we will cooperate with an experienced team acting in this series from the very first season.
Everything that we have learned, and the technologies that we work out on racetracks, will be further applied in the creation of electric road cars – as a result, the entire Mercedes family will benefit from this. ”
Official tests with the participation of all Formula E teams will be held at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia from October 15 to 18.
