Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster Receives Luxury PerformanceFebruary 20, 2019
German brand has introduced a special edition of the model – Grand Editing
The Mercedes-Benz SL (R231) roadster, launched in 2012, has received a special version of the Grand Edition. The presentation of the novelty is scheduled for the March motor show in Geneva, although European dealers will begin to accept orders from the end of February.
The Mercedes-Benz SL Grand Edition will be offered in two versions: SL 400 with a twin-turbo 3.0 V6 (367 power and 500 Nm of torque) and SL 500 c 4.7 V8 (455 power and 700 Nm of torque). The gearbox in both cases is the same – the automatic 9G-Tronic. Junior SL 400 accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. SL 500 this takes 0.6 seconds less. The maximum speed of roadsters is limited at around 250 kilometers per hour.
Next-generation SL will debut in 2020. The model will be taken out of the Mercedes-Benz line and will be made part of the Mercedes-AMG model range. The top version of the roadster will be a 800-hp hybrid.
For the Mercedes-Benz SL Grand Edition, various body color options are available: four metallic shades, standard black and white colors, several shades of gray and black Obsidian Black. Roadsters from the special series are equipped with 10-spoke AMG wheels, 19-inches in size and 20 in front.
For trim uses brown and perforated black leather. The car equipment includes the Airscarf neck heating system, a 10-millimeter understated suspension with more aggressive settings, multi-contour seats with massage and an active parking assistant.
