Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated C-Class, which will be offered in sedan and station wagon bodies. At the same time, only a sedan is expected to be released in Russia.
The updated sedan has added in dimensions: the length has increased to 4751 mm (+65 mm), the wheelbase – up to 2865 mm (+25 mm). In turn, the trunk of the station wagon added 30 liters. In addition, the new model received a short front overhang, rims from 17 to 19 inches, a modified radiator grille and 2-section taillights. As for the interior of the new Mercedes C-Class, there is a digital dashboard at 10.25 or 12.3 inches and a display of the second generation MBUX multimedia system at 9.5 inches as standard and 11.9 inches optional.
The updated C-Class now only has electrified four-cylinder engines. Standard model variations will be offered with petrol and diesel engines with 48 volt starter-generators (20 hp and 200 Nm).
So, the engine range of the new Mercedes C-Classis quite wide and consists, for example, of a 265-horsepower 2.5-liter diesel engine, a 258-horsepower gasoline “turbo four”. At the same time, variations of the C 180 and C 200 will receive a “turbo four” with a capacity of 170 hp. (250 Nm) and 204 hp. (300 Nm), respectively, 2.5 liters. The diesel will also get two “junior” modifications – 163 hp. (380 Nm) and 200 hp. (440 Nm). Only a 9-speed automatic transmission is offered as a transmission.
Later, the sedan and station wagon will receive a modification of the C 300 e with a full-fledged hybrid unit based on a gasoline engine with a total capacity of 313 hp. (500 Nm), and a battery with a capacity of 25.4 kW / h will allow the new Mercedes C-Class to drive only on electric traction up to 100 km.
With the generation change, Mercedes-Benz received a modernized set of driver’s assistants. It is worth saying that in Europe, the acceptance of orders for the sedan and station wagon starts on March 30. There are no plans to deliver the 5-door C-Class to the Russian Federation, and the sedan will become available for order in the second quarter of 2021.
In addition, some time ago it was reported that spy photos of the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class 4×4 Squared were published on the Internet. It should be emphasized that at present the exact date of the premiere of this new product of the German brand is unknown.
