The new G-Class is new generation debuted at the Detroit Motor Show. European sales will start this summer.

The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class retained the recognizable exterior appearance of the predecessor, with the model becoming larger: the length increased by 53 mm to 4,715 mm, the width increased to 1,881 mm (+121 mm). Weight reduced by 170 kg, the body is made of steel, but the hood, wings and doors – made of aluminum. Torsion stiffness increased from 6 537 to 10 162 Nm / deg.

The SUV is built on a new frame. The German – an independent front suspension instead of the bridge, which is attached to the frame directly, without a subframe. Behind – a continuous bridge with four longitudinal levers and a rod of Panar. The ground clearance under the floor of the body is now 241 mm (+6 mm), the depth of the ford is 700 mm (+100 mm).

The engine has so far announced only one – the V8 4.0 bi-turbo with a capacity of 422 hp. In place of the seven-band “automatic” came 9G-Tronic. There are several modes of operation of the control electronics, which change the suspension, steering and power settings: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual or G-Mode.

The interior became more spacious, it was designed in the style of the latest E-Class and S-Class. For top-end versions of the G-Class of the new generation, there are two displays with a diagonal of 12.3 inches each. The screens are hidden under a single glass cover: one – instead of the traditional panel, the second – the touchscreen of the multimedia system.

Buyers will be offered several options for interior decoration (leather of different varieties and colors, inserts of carbon, wood or metal), plus 64 color options for backlighting. The list of equipment also included: wireless charging for the smartphone, a sunroof, chairs with electrical adjustments, heating, memory and massage function.

In the Europe, sales of the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class will start in June. In Germany, the price of an off-road vehicle will start at 107,040 euros.
