Mercedes-Benz is working on a new compact crossoverJanuary 16, 2019
The model will be called the Mercedes-Benz EQB. The compact crossover will be presented in several versions: with petrol and diesel engines, as a plug-in hybrid, as well as an all-electric model. The standard version will be released by the end of this year. The Mercedes-Benz EQ B electric model will be ready no earlier than 2020.
The Mercedes-Benz EQB will compete with the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Lexus NX. Mercedes-Benz notes that the new crossover will receive a unique design, exclusive rims. Thanks to the new design, the drag coefficient will be below 0.30.
The dashboard will be used in the salon, which echoes the A-Class models. The MBUX infotainment system from Mercedes supports voice control.
The hybrid version will receive a 2.0-liter engine and two electric motors, which will provide it with all-wheel drive. The battery will be installed under the floor, so that the amount of luggage will be the same as that of the gasoline version. The hybrid will be able to overcome up to 500 km, of which 100 km – in a fully electric mode.
