Mercedes-Benz is preparing another update for the crossover GLAJune 19, 2019
Today, a fresh batch of “spyware” snaps got into our mailbox, capturing the updated Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class in extremely sharp images. The presentation of the novelty is likely to take place next year.
Despite the presence of camouflage film, we see that the next GLA should be slightly larger overall, with a slightly higher ground clearance and a higher roofline. We do not expect the crossover to grow too much – the new GLB crossover should be the only seven-seater compact Mersey, but a little more outside space should be equal to a little more legroom for five passengers inside.
This prototype seems to have serial headlamps and taillights, although heavy camouflage still hides most of the design elements.
Under all this, the new GLA-class should have exactly the same front-wheel drive architecture, which is the basis for the current A-class hatchback and the GLB 7-seater crossover. Thus, power must come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine connected to an eight-speed automatic. The maximum power of this motor is equal to 221 hp. As an option will be available four-wheel drive. A 1.3-liter turbocharged unit offered for initial configurations may also be available. According to rumors, in the future there will be an option from AMG with power up to 416 hp.
By the way, there are rumors that the new GLA will debut at the end of this year in Frankfurt as a model for 2020, although it will most likely be shown at the beginning of next year, given the strong disguise on the observed prototype.
