Mercedes-Benz is preparing a new entry-level model.January 10, 2019
According to the plans of the German automaker, in 2022 a new, more affordable model could be shown. It is possible that it may be a compact crossover.
At the CES-2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Mercedes-Benz showed off a new generation of 4-door coupe CLA, featuring stylish design and A-class technology. The latter is currently the most accessible model of the brand. The German automaker has plans to present an even more budget model for some countries.
According to AutoBild reports, Mercedes-Benz may introduce a 3-door kid in 2022. In the current model range, it will be located below the current 5-door A-Class hatchback.
The novelty has been tentatively named A-City and will be built on the basis of an abbreviated version of the A-Class platform. The report for October last year claimed that the German concern Daimler, which includes Mercedes-Benz, could expand its Smart brand and replace it with a Mercedes mini-car. The model will compete with the car from the company Mini and the German Audi A1.
AutoBild journalists say that a new small city car can generate a subcompact crossover. Rumors say that he may be shown one year after the presentation of A-City and will bear the nickname A-Adventure. Sophisticated design, slightly raised suspension should make it an ideal vehicle for the urban jungle.
There is information that if the creation of more budgetary models ever gets the green light, they will get the platform from the next generation A-Class as a basis. This is a new modular platform, which later can be easily simplified for the needs of the new Baby Benz.
