Representatives of the company told about their plans at a solemn ceremony in honor of the 60th anniversary of the launch of the plant in East London (South Africa). At this event, the head of state Cyril Ramafosa also attended.
The funds will be allocated for the construction and equipment of paint shops and workshops to assemble the bodies, improve assembly lines, new logistics centers. The area occupied by new buildings will occupy about 100 thousand square meters. The staff of the plant currently stands at 3 300 people. With the opening of new workshops and centers, it can increase to 65%.
The company added that the expansion of the company will reduce electricity consumption by 25% and make the plant itself more environmentally friendly. In addition, the expansion will have a positive impact on the development of a number of local companies. They will be able to conclude contracts for the supply of components to the plant and the provision of services.
The cars produced by the South African engineering plant in East London are shipped to 84 countries around the world. Only last year it was collected 110 thousand copies.
